She published books for children using the pen name Aurelie, such as Mährchen für Kinder (1861) Sister of banker and composer Carl von Kaskel (1797—1874) Wife of diplomat and translator Wolf Heinrich von Baudissin (1797-1878). Their home in Dresden was, from ca.1840-70, a meeting place for artists such as Mendelssohn, Schumann and H.C. Andersen.
