Andrea Cogliati attended the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Milan, Italy, where he studied organ, conducting, and composition with Antonio Eros Negri. He also attended composition classes with Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon and Allan Schindler at the Eastman School of Music. He received a BS in Mathematics from Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa, Italy) and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Rochester, with a thesis on Automatic Music Transcription.
