- The History of Dublin, N.H.: Containing the Address by Charles Mason, and the Proceedings at the Centennial Celebration, June 17, 1852, with a Register of Families (City of Dublin, New Hampshire, 1920. P.357) - contains a description of the Dublin cemetary, including the Craigin section (so-spelled), confirming information above. (Lists her, again, as born in Roxbury, MA., died in Boston, but buried in Dublin, next to Henry A. Craigin (1867-1896) (one of her sons?)
Miscellaneous information
- adding a category since we have more pages associated with her than some categories as it is. May have been born 1824 or 1825 in New York State (if Cragin was her family name and not her married name, anyway, there was a Louisa Cragin born in October 1825-may-have-been-1824 in NY.) Was (it seems?) a translator, author of texts for music, author on social/political topics and religious topics. Nationality probably American/US but too little known to say.
Actually, despite appearance of "Cragin" on a number of scores (assuming these are the same person!!) - "Craigin" may be more accurate. A 1915 "Who's Who in New England" (p.283) entry for her son (and 2nd child) George Arthur Craigin (her son with Lorenzo S. Craigin) gives her "maiden name" as Simmons, the birthyear of her son as 1863.
Genealogy link gives Louisa Cragin née Simmons' birthdate but seems to conflict with some other evidence that seemed to suggest that she was alive and writing in 1843, and likewise in 1903. These may have been misinterpreted, however (republications in the latter case, misread date or somesuch in the former case... Will go with 1837 to 1886 for now. A 1886 notice from the Necrology section of Literary World, volume 17, more or less confirms the date of death and describes her as "song-writer and magazinist"- giving date as October 28 rather than October 10, however. (Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper for November 6 1886 also gives October 28.)
