Little is known of his life. Some airticle mentions that he was born in 1822 in Matanzas in Cuba. and in his youth he lived temporarily in Cádiz and San Fernando. He is thought to have had a friendship with Spanish guitar composer Leopold de Urcullu (1797 -1839).
