Miscellaneous information
- Some rough details picked up from the literature above: Born in Huy (Lüttich, southern part of the Netherlands at that time), the family moved to Antwerpen. Huwet served as a lutenist more than 25 years at the Wolfenbüttel Court. He had a very good "job", was paid pretty well, next to Michael Praetorius (Kapellmeister), with several privileges (e.g. from the court musicians he was the only one with a steady permission to the Duke's private chambers) and he got special benefits (e.g. a house and property in Halberstadt, to be used as long as he lived or served at Wolfenbüttel; only Praetorius and Huwet were allowed to leave the Court because of private affairs). Not a lot of his compositions have survived, perhaps just because for Huwet there was no need to produce printed material. He was esteemed being a very good lutenist with great skills to arrange music, e.g. madrigals and motets.
- Not to be mismatched with his father, who had the same name and also was a lutenist.
