Miscellaneous information
- Wife of the organist and composer John Paul Morgan (1841–1879). Married in 1866 according to F. O. Jones, A Handbook of American Music and Musicians (1889, p.104). According to various issues of Who's Who in America, her daughter Geraldine ("privately tutored") married Benjamin F. Roeder on June 25 1901; even in the 1914 issue there is no notice of Virginia being deceased. Re birth date: "Virginia (Woods) Morgan, the mother of Mrs. Stephens, was born April 10, 1845, in Iowa City, Iowa" (History of Georgia, Vol.2, page 309) seems to settle this, though of course there might be several Virginia Woods Morgan of note from that general time and better information would be useful (and since John Morgan's wife was Virginia H. Woods, daughter of... of Iowa City, Iowa, the place matches.)
