- According to Jos. Joubert biographical notes for Les Maîtres contemporains de l'orgue vol. 4 (1914), Jean Parisot was born in Plombières-les-Bains (Vosges) and became a Benedictine monk in Solesmes Abbey in 1883. Ha has been organist in the Ligugé monastery from 1894 to 1899. As a scholar, he traveled extensively in Syria and Turkey and published many books on Oriental and Jewish music.
