Born in Mannheim. Studied in Munich with August Schmid-Lindner (1870-1959) and Hermann Wolfgang Sartorius Freiherr von Waltershausen (1882-1954) (later Director of Munich Akademie der Tonkunst). Also taught by Ernst Toch (1887-1964). She worked as a piano teacher but also composed. Gertrud Schweizer died in 1942 in Auschwitz, along with her siblings Franz and Antonie.
