According to the title page of Pietro Mechetti's publication (information from NYPL), the work is for 3 instrumentations (pour le l'orchestre ou de quatuor ou de piano), the second being unsure of string quartet or 3 violins and cello/double bass (as shown in an alternate instrumentation of Op.18, Carnival of Venice).
