In earlier work catalogues Op.17a consisted of 6 pieces and the present Op.17a (Nos.1-4) were at that time numbered "Nos.3-6". In that scheme "Nos.1-2" were 2 dances which originally had no opus numbering at all. Moreover, the two dances are in fact Orpolasten polska (see Op.20 No.4) and Polska (see under that name in the list of compositions). Therefore the old numbering was renewed to reflect correct situation and the Polska is now without opus number while Orpolasten polska belongs to the 2nd South Ostrobothnian Suite.
