Песня была напечатана не отдельным изданием, а в романе The Last Novik, авторство Лажечникова долгое время оставалось малоизвестным, и поэтому песня зачастую приписывалась другим лицам, например А.Ф.Мерзлякову (статья Межевича в газете "Молва", 1834, N 44)
