Misc. Notes Example 22 (A Lute Barre Etude) is transcribed from William Barley: A New Book of Tabliture [for the Lute], London 1596, f.C1v
The tenor lyrics are imagined to be accompanied by the example lute song in this arrangement for voice and guitar. The lyrics are also from "A New Book of Tabliture", the Canzonet on f.A5v, which elsewhere is attributed to Sir Arthur Gorges (ca.1569–1625) ("In the grace of wit, of tongue and face", (other titles: "Her Face, Her Tongue, Her Wit") by Sir Arthur Gorges, was published in A Poetical Rhapsody (1621), London, K8v-L1r; pp. 144-145)
