Here the Andante appassionato for cello & organ (1900) is listed as Op.11. Moreover, there is an Andante appassionato for string quartet listed under 1899.

La página romántica de extraordinaria fuerza íntima que es el Andante Appassionato Opus 2, tiene una curiosa historia que ha sido mencionada antes. Lo compuso Enrique Soro a la edad de 17 años, cuando era estudiante en Europa. Lo escribió primeramente para cello y órgano y fue interpretado por él mismo en 1901 en el Conservatorio de Milás, con clamoroso éxito, según las crónicas italianas.

En 1904 escribió la música del Andante para que fuera ejecutado por el famoso Cuarteto Geloso en la Sala Pleyel de París. Dicho conujnto lo integraban J. Geloso y Bloch, violines; Pierre Monteux, viola y G. Tergis, violoncello.En 1905 compuso una versión para dos violines, cello y piano, y, de regreso a Chile ese mismo año, la dio a conocer en el Teatro Concepción como primicia y homenaje a su ciudad natal.

En 1909 escribió una versión para piano, la que fue editada por Schirmer en Nueva York. En 1924 lo compuso para pequeña orquesta de cuerdas, siendo editado también por Schirmer.

El Andante de Soro ha sido ejecutado innumerables veces en distintas partes del mundo por orquestas dirigidas por Kleiber, Busch, Sargent, Vandernoot, Terc, Moubarack y en Chile bajo la dirección de Tevah, Carvajal, Zoltan Fischer, Agustín Cullell y el propio autor, quien era, además, un destacado director. Fue grabado, asimismo, por la RCA Víctor en la cotizada colección de discos Sello Rojo.

Finalmente, la última y definitiva versión para piano sólo la escribió en 1954, poco antes de morir.
