In 1899 he formed the Bendix String Quartet with Eugene Boegner (2nd vl), Ottokar Nováček (1866—1900) (Viola) and Leo Schulz (1865—1944) (Cello). He was a member, with Reinhold L. Herman (1849—1919) (piano) of cellist-composer Victor Herbert's Metropolitan Trio Club in New York, 1889.
