Blazy's most notable distinction is that of being Louis Vierne's teacher at l'Institution nationale des Jeunes Aveugles. The Elévation movement from Vierne's final composition, Messe Basse pour les défunts (Low Mass for the Departed) is dedicated to his memory. He teached also the piano to Jean Langlais. Blind from birth, Blazy died in a tragic accident after being hit outside his house by a truck.
