We hardly have biographical data of the guitarist and composer Salvador Castro de Gistau.
He came from an illustrious Aragonese family and with autonomous learning, from a very young age he made contact with the instrument.
In 1800 he moved to Paris, where he published a Journal of foreign music specialized in guitar, called "Journal de Musique éttrangère pour la Guitarre ou Lyre". In this journal he discovered great compositions by other authors such as Fernando Sor and Federico Moretti.
He did not give up his efforts to promote the guitar.
And a large part of his creations are pedagogical in nature. (from 'Cancioneros Musicales Españoles')
