Son of Claude Crestot, also a musician. Manuscripts of his works bear the name La Haye. He was referred to as Jean Crestot, dit La Haye in documents pertaining to his life. He was active as a violinist and dance master in Paris from 1623, and a member of the 24 violons. His funeral was on 10 January 1648.
