The title page of the Oboe Concerto gives the composer as "Del Seignor Gilles ord.o Della Musica Di Sua Altezza Reale Di Lorena". It is possible that he was employed by Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, the founder of the Lorraine (Lorena) dynasty in Tuscany, who came to power in 1737 after the death of the last Medici and died in 1765.
