- A famous Victorian composer and society entertainer at the piano. Started off as a lawyer, but gave it up for the stage. However he would sing his songs that he composed at parties accompanying himself at the piano during his lawyer phase. Associated with the German Reed Entertainments, who worked with the likes of W.S. Gilbert, and Frederick Clay. Died of "epidemic influenza" at his home in Teversham. One of the forefathers of the society entertainer at the piano; so famous that his name became synonymous for one.
