Son of violinist and composer Friedrich Hegar (1841—1927) Cellist of the Frankfurt Museum-Quartett 1905-1910 with Hugo Heermann (1st vl), Bassermann (2nd vl) and Adolf Rebner (va.).
Cellist of the Rebner Quartet 1910-28 with Adolf Rebner, Walther Davisson, and Ludwig Natterer (from 1916 with Paul Hindemith as second violinist, later violist). Also a member of Felix Berber's (1871—1930) Berber Quartet in the 1920s.
