An pianist, composer, accompanist and tenor. He also was a society entertainer at the piano, composing his own material. He also used other entertainer's songs, like Quenton Ashlyn's "Ladies in Parliament". He is listed as playing this on the Pianoforte, as well as accompanying singers. He was also a music teacher. However, his most famous endeavour was his Plantation Songs (1895-1897) he composed in the late Victorian era. These songs survived all the way to radio and 1930s reprints.
