Blind from birth, he studied at l'Institut des Jeunes Aveugles (Paris) with A. Mahaut (harmony), A. Marty and Ch.-M. Widor (organ). He was appointed organist of the Clicquot cathedral organ in Poitiers on May 1, 1896. He remained in function 53 years, to December 1949.
