- Detailed biography: Mexican opera singer, composer and pianist. He studied piano and music at the Conservatorio de las Rosas, in his hometown Morelia. He completed the Bachelor's degree of Music-Singing with Honorable Mention at the Faculty of Music of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM, Mexico City). He obtained the Master's degree in Opera Performance at the Conservatori Liceu (Barcelona). He studied singing with Enrique Jaso Mendoza, Roberto Bañuelas, Leonardo Villeda and Thusnelda Nieto Jara. He took masterclasses and vocal coach with Emilio Pérez-Casas, Rogelio Riojas-Nolasco, Julio Alexis Muñoz, Lorne Richtone, Genaro Méndez, Adrian Thompson, Joan Martin-Royo, Carlos Chausson, Rodika Hayman, Rupert Dussmann, Markus Hollop, Noé Colín, Javier Camarena and Francisco Araiza. He has performed 20 operatic characters, including: Sprecher and Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Ramphis (Aida), Conte di Monterone and Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Il Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) and Colline (La Bohème). He recorded for Channel 22 (Mexico City) in a vocal ensemble directed by Jorge Medina Leal. In the role of Rey de Corazones, he recorded the CD of the opera Alicia, by Federico Ibarra, at the Centro Nacional de las Artes (Mexico City). He has been soloist in international festivals such as Jerusalem Lyric Opera Festival (Jerusalem) and Wiener Festspiele (Vienna). Soloist with the baton of Jean Paul Penin, Francisco Savín, Fernando Lozano, José Miramontes Zapata, Alejandro Roca, Paolo Spadaro, Alessandro Pagliazzi, and with the stage direction of Luis de Tavira, Sandra Meneses, Rita Gironés, Paco Azorín, Raúl Falcó, Rafael Félix, César Piña, Leopoldo Falcón, David Bobée, Jesús León.
- At present, Omar Nieto has piano pieces, chorales, chamber music and songs with own poetry. He premiered virtually some of his chorales during the pandemic. Since 2022, he premiered Microludio, for solo flute, Yo bendigo tu existencia, for voice and piano, and Sueño de un amor acendrado, for brass trio, in Barcelona.
