For music in notations that use numbers to denote pitch. Several different systems exist, with different ways of marking rhythm - which also influenced Tonic Sol-fa notation. Other names include numeral notation, numerical notation, number notation, figure or figured notation, cipher notation, musique chiffrée, the Ziffersystem, or the Galin-Paris-Chevé method.
Fillmore's system is adapted from standard notation with numbers in the noteheads.
Most of these systems work on the "movable Doh" principle, excepting those of Pierre Davantès and Peter Pagi, which are fixed-pitch number notations.
