Miscellaneous information
- An Edward H. Phelps died in action in 1863 (November 25), but a number of works by someone of this name were published afterwards - there may be more than one personality and composer under consideration here, or one of each. In "My Dream of Heaven" (2002, Rebecca Ruter Springer, Vicki Jamison-Peterson, published by Harrison House Publishers) the authors conjecture that Phelps, a noted composer of the time (from whose works the hymn they had just quoted was taken, among other accomplishments, e.g. newspaper publishing (The New-England Homestead) of some reknown...) was (?–1863?) implying possibly that they are also guessing that Phelps died at war (or for some other reason with the same year, of course). He is also mentioned (as a recent resident?) in King's Handbook of Springfield (Massachusetts), 1884 (as composer, music critic and newspaperman.)
