L'abbé Joubert in his biographical notes for Les Maîtres contemporains de l'orgue vol. 4 (1914), has 1856 as birth year for Gabriel Sizes, for in Castelnaudary (Aude). In 1865, he was already organist (9 yo) for the parish Saint-François. At 12, he entered the Niedermeyer music school in Paris. During the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71), he went in his family at Toulouse and pursued his studies at the Conservatoire until 1873 when he began teaching. In 1884, became professor at the Toulouse Conservatoire while being titular organist at Notre-Dame de la Dalbade.
