Apparently Sherbrooke in question is Sherbrooke Quebec, not Sherbrooke anywhere in the US, though the 1874 score here suggests Maine connections. From another site
May 1891 deaths - we have this: "FRED TER LINDEN Formerly bandmaster at WEST POINT AND DAVID'S ISLAND, died at SHERBROOKE QUE ON TUESDAY." And indeed, Ter Linden appears in a PDF of "Teachers of Music with the USMA Band, as the band's 7th T(eacher) (of) M(usic), his position revoked when he went on report for public drunkenness.
