Claim is made on the cover page of a Ditson score that he is (was) the son of William Vincent Wallace. (Actually, Wikipedia suggests that his son - if this is the one mentioned and if the article is not speaking of Wallace's father at that point and of WV Wallace as the "son" in question - was born in England and emigrated to Australia first. (Edit: Clarence S. Wallace, however, was born and died in the US.) A more detailed biography would presumably clarify!) (There is a more detailed biography available which does mention Wallace had several sons, which may go a way towards clarifying...)
