Musical director at theaters in New York and Boston. Eventually settled in Philadelphia where he died.
His father, also a musician, was also named Henry Wannemacher. Henry Jr. appears to have dropped the Junior from his name by the early 1880s. It is possible that some works attributed to Jr. but published under the name Henry Wannemacher might be compositions of the father.
