In the course of searching, I sometimes come across music which is already available through the internet, but is not yet in the public domain. In the hope that it might be useful, I am starting a list of composers here, whose work is still protected by copyright law to some extent.
(According to a personal communication from Jeff Lee (Godfrey's Bookshelf) I am advised that, at least in the USA, "Works published before 1923 are automatically in the public domain; however [works] published between 1923 and 1964 [are only in] the public domain if [their] copyright expired without renewal in its 28th year.) --Sphemusator 10:15, 20 June 2006 (CDT)
Ligeti has recently died. First he doesn't matter any more to live of his creation. And moreover if somebody had asked him he surely wouldn't be against that his work of a life would spread freely all over the world, that anybody could read and study his labor. It is instead one of the nicest hommage we could give to him. I don't incite to break laws, I merely suggest that there must be a time when these laws could turn less absurd.Almeo 16:57, 17 June 2007 (EDT)

I was thinking, maybe we should have subcategories under the Composers category which will contain Folk songs, as well as Anonymous or Traditional pieces. It is more logical to look for Anonymous in a different group, than look it up as a name of a composer under the letter "A". Same for Folk and Traditional songs; they are not "composers", merely sub-categories.
Just an idea... ~ jujimufu 17:52, 9 August 2007 (EDT)

There are many pages for a initial. To find "Bruckner", you have to click "B" on the TOC, scroll up the page, realize there's no "Bruckner", and click "next 200". Aren't you tired? If there's Bo or Br or something on the TOC, you'll fine very soon after click it. "S" is same to "B". Let me make a proposal a new idea, putting "Bo" or "Br" after "B" and "So" or "Sr" after "S" on the TOC of this page.--Supertchan 13:11, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
I just looked at the code to create the table of contents links on the pages of the category. I thought a TOC template was used instead, I truly did... Eric 19:44, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
