Very little information has turned up so far about F.O. Jones whose only musical connection appears to be his authorship/editorship of the 1886 volume A Handbook of American Music and Musicians which he self-published. In the preface to that volume Jones does identify himself as a resident of Canaseraga (Allegany County), New York.
- The 1880 federal census for Allegany County, New York lists a Frank O. Jones (born about 1858) living in his father's household in the town of Burns. His occupation is listed as printer.
- In the volume Allegany County and its people. A centennial memorial history of Allegany County, N. Y. (1896) edited by Mrs. Georgia Drew Merrill we find F. O. Jones listed as the town clerk for Canaseraga (it having been incorporated in 1892).
- LOC Authority Record lists him as F. O. Jones.
