Category talk:Molbe, Heinrich

Heinrich Molbe is a pseudonym for Heinrich Freiherr von Bach. His estate encompassing numerous large chamber ensembles for strings and winds (plus harp) can be found in the Music collection of the Austrian National Library http://aleph.onb.ac.at/F?func=file&file_name=login&local_base=MUS

Heinrichs brother Alexander was Austrian premier (1852-1859) and ambassador to the Vatikan until 1869

  • Actually, he had three brothers, Alexander, also Otto Bach the composer, and Eduard - to quote a biography, all three of them better known than he. Eric 16:08, 1 April 2018 (CEST)

Compositions by Molbe/von Bach

According to 1909 this ad (back cover page, I think) here are some other compositions he wrote for Hofmeister-Verlag - many sets of lieder for solo and piano up to op. 117 (3, 10, 37?, 65, 67, 82, 92, 93-95, 98-103, 106-108, 112, 114-117), opp.12 and 96 for 2 or 3 singers with piano (and another ad, on page 45, offers the decets opus 21, 104, 109, 113 and 118, octets opus 45 and 47, serenade opus 46, intermezzi opus 81, 110 and 111, scherzo opus 83, Andante penserioso opus 84, all for winds and strings, the septet opus 43, stringquintet opus 44, string sextet opus 64, and other works, some of which we have here (eg opus 44, 62 which is also in the ad, etc. ...), some not. Pseudonym

  • See here for a conjectural but (this editor thinks) very convincing explanation of von Bach's pseudonym... Eric 14:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
