The work was in the process of being published by Adolph Berens of Lübeck when Berens (including Ernst Berens of Hamburg) sold their publishing rights and plates to P.J. Tonger of Cologne on November 1, 1879 (see Hofmeister's Handbuch (1881)). This is why the work is noted in Hofmeister's Monatsberichte as being published by Tonger even though the score carries Berens' plate number.
