Normalized to -2dB. With Spaces convolution reverb. Note that East West Symphonic Orchestra strings were recorded in a space with a lot of reverb that just can't be removed. It's one of the down sides of this otherwise very impressive sample library.

The SoniVox Symphonic String collection is a large set of samples that use different sample sets for each string articulation (as opposed to a key-switched sample set). A separate staff is used here for each string articulation (though Notion staff reduction is on so you only see multiple staves per instrument on pages where multiple articulations are used.) This library is more time consuming to use but you have a lot of different articulations to choose from - even separate sample sets for up and down bowings. Marcato, legato and pizzicato sample sets are used in this sound file version posted on the MIDI/Synthesizer tab.

Test piece for the Vienna Symphonic Library (VSL) Harmonium. I write various kinds of production music so I thought a more stereotypical treatment for this test was in order. This completes the tests for the VSL Special Keyboard library (already posted the Harpsichord on my Harpsichord Comparison collections page and Etude Brute testing the prepared piano). The VSL Harmonium has a number of key-switched sample sets. The current .mp3 versions uses the default Aoline patch. It turns out the other patches are not appropriate for the register of the piece as written. I'll create some solo files for them to give a better idea of the difference in sound. The VSL Harmonium patches are:
- C6 - Aoline
- C#6 - Bassoon-Hautbois
- D6 - Clairon-Fifre
- D#6 - Clarinette-Bourdon
- E6 - Flute-Coranglais
- F6 - Vox-Celeste
- F#6 - Grandjeu
- G6 - Percussion
This piece is turning into a very good string test as well and I will post a few more versions using different string libraries.
