Navigation etc.
Rondino on at least 2 motives of Auber (related themes) - one from the introduction of La sirène (AWV/S.37?, 1844(?!!) (since the Grobe work was published in 1842, presumably the theme itself was first used by Auber in an earlier work)), one (the main theme) seems to be from La fiancée (S.17, 1829).
(However, Letellier (2011) in "The Overtures of Daniel-François-Esprit Auber" doesn't seem to mention any earlier appearance of this theme than in the 1844 overture - maybe he does in some part of the book I don't see right now, or in his larger book "Daniel-François-Esprit Auber: The Man and His Music" (2010).
