This is the first edition of it, in fact the proof sent from the printer, and to be agreed by the composer, dated November 23 1927. The piece is for solo string quartet and string orchestra.
A most beautiful and expressive piece, written late on Ysaÿe's production, even after the 6 sonatas for violin op 27, and the one for cello op 28, and just before the poeme nocturne for vln, cello and orch. In fact, this is something like a nocturne for strings.
