This firm was founded in 1902 by the songwriter Harry Von Tilzer (1872—1946), previously at Shapiro, Bernstein (1900-1902). His brother Will was a shareholder until 1913, but sold his interest to found Broadway Music Corp.. In fact there were five Tilzer brothers: music publishers/composers Will and Harry Von Tilzer, songwriter Albert Von Tilzer (1878—1956), and Jules and Jack Von Tilzer, who both worked in the family business.
