History

J. Leitgeber published music from 1867 into the 20th century in Posen (then in Prussia, now named Poznan, Poland). There were two distinct genres: dances and church music. In the latter category we find several works by Mieczysław Surzyński: organ pieces and a series of classical-era choral works edited by him entitled Kompozycye koscielne wzorowych mistrzow muzycznych z epoki klasycznej w Polsce. (1889)
