Strophic anthem/battle hymn. Energisch, aber nicht zu rasch -- Etwas breiter.
RISM lists another Gernsheim/Geibel Kriegslied, D minor, different melody, different text ("Und wenn uns nichts mehr übrig bleibt"), manuscript at Abtei Metten library, for unison chorus and piano. (Mus.ms. 3079 and the manuscript is incomplete at that.) "Empor, mein volk!" was published in 1915 in a men's chorus and orchestra version (in vocal score and choral parts) by Ries & Erler (Monatsbericht (1915), p.29.
