Le Mière de Corvey led a dual career as a valued army officer and composer/librettist. As a Lieutenant-Colonel he wrote a pioneering book where he extolls the virtues of working from the inside in order to subvert the enemy psychologically. His views on subversive warfare developed from his observations of guerilla tactics during the wars in Vendée and Spain under Napoleon. As a composer or librettist, his contributions are not so well known, he was a great admirer of Rossini. He "arranged" the latter's Tancredi for the Odeon Theater in Paris (1827).
