Instrumentation Gypsy orchestra

Navigation etc.

  • The instrumentation of a gypsy orchestra undoubtedly varies, but the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra "consists of around 60 violins, 9 violas, 6 cellos, 10 double basses, 9 clarinets and 6 cimbaloms." The London Gypsy Orchestra doesn't give an instrumentation list, but their picture shows strings, flutes, clarinets, trumpet, trombone, cimbalom, mandolin(?), etc. They also do concerts with as few as 15 musicians.
  • This has been tagged as "orchestra", since the exact original instrumentation isn't known, but would probably have included winds, strings, and possibly brass.
