No composer of this brief compression of/fantasy on/...? the march from Spohr's Symphony No.4, Op.86 is specified -- just the conductor- but seems most likely to be the conductor. (It may be best to move to the Spohr symphony as an arrangement though it is one-third the length of the actual movement and somewhat different in content. Not sure.)

The Germania Musical Society lasted from 1848 to 1854.
