I wrote this piece and its companion, "Baby Dreams", for my firstborn child and dedicated it to her on the third day after she was born.

I created these videos to celebrate her 15th birthday. Both pieces have a somewhat ambiguous tonality. "Baby Sleeps" swings between Eb Major and Ab Major. While the left hand seems to imply an Ab Major tonality at the outset the right hand more clearly implies an Eb Major tonality. The piece ends with a half-diminished seventh chord on the 7th tone of the Eb Major key and remains unresolved. This is similar to what Robert Schumann did in "Child Falling Asleep" in "Scenes from Childhood" where he ends the piece on the SubDominant. "Baby Dreams" has phrases that double as the ending of a pattern/progression and the beginning of a new one. It begins and ends in F Major but the first chord is in 2nd inversion and the last one is in 1st inversion. Good luck trying to figure out what function each chord performs in relation to F Major! I do call my music Pseudo-Tonal after all.

I couldn't find many pictures of Naomi sleeping. She still retains that beautiful golden hair color and olive skin tone.

Though I have only written 2 pieces for the set, I call them "Naomi Sweet".
