Navigation etc.
The two earliest entries in WorldCat have different instrumentations: 1) piano solo (London : Ascherberg, Hopwood & Crew, ©1922) and 2) mandolin solo with text (parole di Giovanni Maria Sala, Trieste : C. Schmidl, ©1922, edit: also called "Hesitation, valzer-canzone"). Also, since Ranzato was primarily an opera composer, and this has the subtitle "Intermezzo", it is possible it belongs to an opera, or, more likely, an operetta, since most of his successes were in that genre.
- Actually, there is an earlier version, ©1921 C. Schmidl, listed @ SBN.it (remember, this is Italian- why restrict your searches to Worldcat alone, which is rarely adequate for Italian works? See IMSLP:Other information resources.) The instrumentation given for the 1921-© version is -- fl,cl,tr,trb,triang,vl1,vl1,vl2,vlc,cb,harm,pf (its title is "Il valzer misterioso : intermezzo, valse, hésitation" The one library listed as having copies of the parts is "Mediateca di Fondazione Scuole Civiche di Milano". - ES
- The problem is still that this is probably an intermezzo from an opera. It is tagged for undetermined instrumentation for now. If it can be matched to an intermezzo in one of his operettas, it should be moved to the page for that operetta.
