The Girl from the Bus Station – Prelude for Orchestra, originally composed for piano in 2024, is the offspring of a oneiric experience whose narrative transcends the ephemeral nature of a fleeting encounter, imbued with an unspoken passion that, like a delicate secret, grows silently at the threshold of perception. The piece opens with a gentle melody, unveiled through the song of a young woman who, with her unassuming gestures, sets in motion the advent of a wordless yet profoundly intimate connection. The introduction is marked by ethereal arpeggios that evoke the serene movement of the waters of the Guaíba, reflecting the stillness of a nocturnal landscape, where silence—almost sacralized—bears witness to the confluence of destinies. Yet, as the work unfolds, the initial tranquility gradually gives way to an emotional whirlwind, in which the once timid and calm waves of the lake become the distorted reflection of the characters’ volatile and silent inner tension, their passion born in the hush of their furtive glances. The piece dissolves in an airy manner, like a dream that, upon awakening, leaves behind only the ineffable trace of its existence—like a memory that lingers without ever fully revealing itself.
