Possibly by Charles Mayer Jr. (perhaps son of the composer) as with Op.6? Unclear. No polkas by Charles Mayer seem to have been published (relying on several sources, not just HMB) before 1840, which would have been the date expected for an Op.9 by him (his op.28 was produced in 1830.) Still, possible of course (op.nos. are not known for rhyme, nor reason.)
See talk section. The Leipzig republication of the Schuberth above announces it as being by "Mayer, Ch. (de New-York)") .This is if anything probably by an unrelated composer who died in 1904 and lived in the USA.
