Playing Moog Etherwave Plus Theremin (over string sampled version). Little use of vibrato or left hand articulation. (Still a ways to go to get it perfectly in tune - been about a month since I started)

Played in the accompaniment this time on a Kurzweil keyboard and performed on Moog's new Theremini in 100% Pitch Corrected mode. The Theremini is played like a Theremin (pitch and volume antennas) but the sounds are not a heterodyned oscillator like a real theremin. It uses Moog's new Animoog wavetable based synth engine. You can set it so that it quantizes out pitches that are not in the scale you set (or you can set yourself in a partial theremin mode that pitch corrects - or in a totally theremin-like mode).

Playing a Burns B3 Pro, but also using Antares Choir plug-in on a doubled track to give the effect of a choir singing - though it is really a single theremin performance. Played in the keyboard part using a Kurzweil keyboard on a organ-like synth patch. Will work nicely as an organ accompaniment.

Playing a Burns B3 Pro Theremin, the strings are played by Notion5 using a combination of Notion5 strings and 8DIO Adagietto string library.

Performing on a Moog Theremini run through an Electro-Harmonix Talking Machine which produces a kind of tenor-like result from the theremin. Strings are a combination of the new Spitfire Murals string ensemble library and a bit of LA Scoring strings with VSL cembalo for continuo.

Conjunct/Stepwise motion. The initial study allows you to keep a fixed hand position, expanding/contracting your fingers to cover the range of notes required (diatonic scalar motion in a major key with a range of perfect fifth). Play legato and then also practice articulating with your volume hand. The goal of these initial exercises is to help you learn to play in tune (for about a minute in this case). Don't worry about using the volume hand at first. Concentrate on staying in tune as best you can. Don't use too much vibrato as it will be counterproductive (first just try and hold pitches - vibrato will cover up some of your inaccuracies - fine for later when you can play better in tune). Study 1b is an expanded version of 1a. Study #2 is also a simple conjunct study, with a key change. All three belong as a unit of study.

This is a simple diatonic study centering on conjunct motion with jumps up to a 5th (primarily 3rds and 5ths).The keyboard accompaniment for the most part doubles the melody to help the player hit pitches.

This is a longer piece with a string accompaniment that I will post to play with. It centers on a combination of stepwise and various triadic motions.

An Adaptation of the Largo from Thiel's Concerto for two Trumpets (go to Thiel page for the original). Took too many licenses with the piece to put it under Thiel and it turns out that the melody is an excellent practice piece for the Theremin focusing on thirds (triads), and seventh and octave jumps.

As I learn this beast of an instrument I am writing a series of progressive studies to help me out. I'll post them here as I get good enough to play them (and maybe post better performances of them as I get better).
