For the 1830 "Prix de Rome" for musical composition six cantatas were presented by Alexandre Montfort, Hector Berlioz, Alphonse Gilbert, Eugène Prévost, Victor Lefebvre and Edouard Millault. The competition was won by Hector Berlioz, the second award went to Alexandre Montfort and the third to Edouard Millault. The remaining three competitors (among them Eugène Prévost) did not receive an award.
