One somewhat suspects that the flute/piano publication of 1878 is the original, and that the 1906 Flute/Salon Orchestra and 1921 Flute/orchestra edition (Monatsbericht (1921), p.61, Odeon Edition) are posthumous orchestral arrangements; but then the degree of Popp's facility with the orchestra is unknown at present, this editor thinks. (And this editor is mistaken: a brilliant concert fantasy for flute and orchestra by Popp, Op.382, exists - ms score & parts - preserved in full at the Fleisher Collection. So does an Italian Concerto, Op.392, and a number of others including another Swedish Concerto, Op.254, on the folksong Im Rosenduft, for cornet and orchestra or piano.)
(Edit: Admittedly, the degree of his facility awaits actually viewing/hearing those original orchestral scores of his...)
