Awarded a prize by the Wiener Tonkunstler Verein, probably in the same 1896 competition in which Zemlinsky's Trio, Op.3 was awarded. Rabl's Quartet for Piano, Violin, Clarinet, and Cello, Op.1 won the first prize. The competition was for a chamber work with at least one wind instrument.
